Basoda is the Phalguna Krishna Ashtami vrat dedicated to Goddess Shitala, who protects against infectious diseases. Worshippers eat cold stale food cooked the previous day as an offering, and no fresh cooking is done on this day. It is mainly observed in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh.
