Shitala Satam falls on Shravana Krishna Saptami and is dedicated to Goddess Shitala, who guards against diseases like smallpox, chickenpox, and measles. Worshippers eat stale food (baasi) prepared the previous night as fresh cooking is considered inauspicious. It is mainly observed in Gujarat.
