About

Sri Jayanti (Sri Sannidhi Sampradaya)

Sri Jayanti per the Sri Sannidhi Sampradaya — the tradition followed by Sri Ahobila Mutt, an independent lineage distinct from the Munitraya Sampradaya, with its own daily ritual protocols (Ahnika) and festival observances originating directly from Lord Malola and Srimad Athivan Satakopan — is a Saura (solar) observance of the birth of Lord Krishna. It requires the Sun in sidereal Simha (Leo), Krishna Paksha Ashtami, and Rohini nakshatra to all be present on the same day — a Saura condition layered on the lunar tithi and nakshatra, evaluated with zero tolerance for affliction.

यदा यदा हि धर्मस्य ग्लानिर्भवति भारत। अभ्युत्थानमधर्मस्य तदात्मानं सृजाम्यहम्।।
Yadā yadā hi dharmasya glānir bhavati bhārata, abhyutthānam adharmasya tadātmānaṃ sṛjāmyaham.
"Whenever righteousness declines and unrighteousness rises, O Bharata, I manifest myself."
— Bhagavad Gita 4.7
Tradition & Practice
☀️
Sun in Simha
The Saura (solar) gate: the Sun must be in sidereal Simha (Leo) on the candidate Hindu day — the same solar condition the Munitraya Sampradaya uses, evaluated here independently.
🐄
Ashtami and Rohini, Same Day
Krishna Paksha Ashtami and Rohini nakshatra must both be present on the same Hindu day (sunrise-to-sunrise) — not evaluated as a temporal union, but as simultaneous same-day conditions.
⚔️
Zero-Tolerance Vedha
Even one vinadi (24 seconds) of Saptami Vedha or Krittika Vedha disqualifies a candidate outright — no grace period, no rounding.
🔁
Two Candidates in One Simha Masa
When the solar month contains two Ashtami+Rohini candidate days, the later day is evaluated first; if it is afflicted, the earlier day is used instead, provided it is pure.
🪷
Fallback Sequence
If no pure Ashtami+Rohini day exists, the tradition falls back to pure Rohini with Navami, and finally — as an emergency measure — to Mrigashirsha with Navami or Dashami.
